“Lost” showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confront several accusations of racism, toxicity and more that allegedly occurred during the making of the ABC hit series in Maureen Ryan's new book, “Burn It Down,” an excerpt of which has been published on Vanity Fair's website.

Damon Lindelof allegedly bragging about firing Harold but then deciding to bring him back for season 4 doesn’t make much sense to me.

They said at the time they had to write Walt off the show because the actor was aging too quickly as only months had passed in the show’s timeline.

I don’t know, I don’t get these books, it just seems like they’d exaggerate so much just to sell more copies (like Prince Harry’s book.) what’s Lindelof gonna say exactly ‘Yes it’s all true and I should be cancelled.’

reply

Perrineau comes off as extremely whiny if those quotes are true. Michael got a huge character arc in season 2 considering he was one of the worst characters. Also, if Lindelof were racist, they never would have brought in Mr Eko and wanted to keep him. He was killed off because the actor wanted to leave.

i think it says more about ABC/Disney , how these were just diversity hires and checkboxes , they don't really care about diversity

reply

It's the 21st century. Do you honestly think anyone involved in the creation and execution of the show was hung up on racism? They didn't hire an actor to check a diversity box. They hired actors to play a character.

reply

If that were true, Jin and Sun would not have been included. They wanted to make the show multicultular.

reply

Multicultural has nothing to do with racism. Sun and Jin were from Korea, by the way. This is an international flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. People from various countries were on board departing from and arriving to major international airports. They hired extraordinary actors to play extraordinary characters. I'm assuming you have never been on an international flight. There are people from all over the world on them.

I find the recent hit pieces on LOST to be not so coincidentally timed to promote the horrendous conclusion of the awful Manifest that thinks it better than LOST.

reply

For a television series that has been in existence for such an extended period, If these are the secrets, it doesn't truly appear to be an unpleasant place to work.
