The Wayne's death just shows that Thomas Wayne is a cheapskate

In all the death scenes of Bruce's parents Martha's pearl necklace goes everywhere. It's not a real loss though considering the pearls on a real pearl necklace are individually knotted so they don't go everywhere like they always do when Martha gets killed.

I understand it's probably more for effect, but it makes Thomas Wayne look cheap.

In one of the comics, a spirit of Martha told Bruce they were fake- "do you really think I'd wear my best pearls to see a MOVIE!?"

But that spirit was conjured by Ra's, so it's open to interpretation how real it was.

Are you trolling or is that for real?

It's kind of cool ret-conning if it's real. Irreverent, but still kinda cool.

reply

No it really happened!

The comic was called Death and the Maidens. Ra's offered Bruce a potion which would allow him to speak with his parents' ghosts, and it apparently worked, but in-story it was still possibly all imaginary.

I stopped reading comics in the 70's, but that does sound like exactly the sort of dickhead thing Ra's would have done back then

The real story is that Thomas Wayne gave the real pearl necklace to his new hot 20 year old secretary and the copy to his wife. :-)

We're talking about Thomas Wayne not Frank Burns.

reply

He's a cheapskate for not hiring private security.
