Cole was such an UNNECESSARY character

Scorpion could've & should've taken his place. He was such a blan, meh character. SOO forgettable. Oh, you want a "chosen one" character? You've got freaking Liu Kang & he's so well cast too. What a waste

Also, can't believe they killed my favorite character, Kung Lao like that. He doesn't even make it to the tournament. Gtfoh!

Also, why in the actual f*ck weren't the final battles in the actual Mortal Kombat tournament? Nah, let's just have random battles in random locations. Even though this whole thing is built around a freaking tournament!

Liu Kang looked like a fucking teenager next to the rest of the cast.

Who the fuck casts 5'5" feminine manlet for such an iconic character?
Did they ever play ANY of the fucking games?

reply

"Did they ever play ANY of the fucking games?"

They decided to creat an unnecessary bland character for no freaking reason. Even though the MK Universe has plenty of interesting protagonists to choose from. Does THAT answer your question?

Also, I honestly didn't mind The Liu Kang casting. Especially the fact that he's young. That would've been more preferable if he was the lead in this new film franchise. With countless planned sequels. Could've grown into the character. And he looked pretty decent imo. But nah, he's gonna be playing second fiddle to Cole

reply

Cole was studio mandated LOL, the shitty writers had to make him the lead.

reply

Seriously? Are you being for real right now?

That's freaking hilarious! 😂 🤣

Way to go, WB. Again.

reply

But people are ok with Keanu Reeves as Cage?

reply

Never heard of anyone wanting Keanu as Cage till now, that's so bizarre...

reply

Keanu Reeves is fancast as almost every new martial arts or action movie character nowadays

Love the dude but personally, I vote for Scott Adkins

reply

I'd love to see him replaced by a younger version of Keanu Reeves. Even the acting "skills" are somehow similar. But Reeves has definitely more charisma and screen presence...

reply

His height is fine for an Asian martial artist. You might want to look up Bruce Lee's height.

reply

Emmm, do I need to repeat the part about "not being faithful to the games"? Cuz you seem to be confused as fuck.
Even Robin Shou, the best movie Liu Kang to date, is 6 feet tall.

reply

Creating Cole could have been fine if it hadn't meant sacrificing giving the established characters any depth whatsoever. Cole was just a waste of screen time and his power was literally plot armor.

reply

Facts facts facts!

reply

The casting and overall story in this movie was just not very good. The original movie is still the best and perhaps the best video game movie I've seen.

reply

It was a weird character to tie together the storyline. He looked like someone I'd cast to play Ryu...wrong game guys.

Directors already explained the whole First Film being a set-up to the Tournament which is cool I guess.

Think of it this way, now that we got introduced to our main set of characters and their powers, the sequel will only introduce us to some new heroes like Johnny Cage and focus more on the Tournament and the fights there because all the ground work has been set up.

Agreed. Pissed they killed off Kung Lao. Dude didn't even get a proper fight.

Cole was utterly pointless. They should have prehaps gone for Scorpion being recarnated/lost his memory or something and then bam, he remembers everything at the end and kicks Bi-Han's ass. Cole was utterly pointless with liternal plot armour. I hope he gets more of a reduced role in the sequel.

I rewatched the original 1995 movie and quite honestly I thought it was better. It felt more personal for alot of the characters and the world felt alive and big. The Reboot feels actually small. Its weird. Like there's background people and guards in the original but in the reboot there's hardly anyone else there. And Goro had more personality and felt like a proper character instead of just a cgi boss fight.

And WTF was Raiden doing when the Temple got attacked?

Other than that I enjoyed the overall film but it could've been better.

reply

When he finally got his arcana, aka superpowers, I was legit expecting him to transform into a new incarnation of Scorpion. What we got instead is one of the most disappointing sights I've ever witnessed

Dude literally developed plot armor as a super power.
