So am I the only person who absolutely loved this movie?

Judging by the reviews and other comments, it seems like everybody hates this movie. I thought this was a great movie and one of the best ones I have seen lately. Anyone else agree?

Judging by the reviews and other comments, it seems like everybody hates this movie. I thought this was a great movie and one of the best ones I have seen lately. Anyone else agree?

It was decent film. I thought it was all right. Like all movies it stretches credibility, and was a little over the top with capturing the helicopter, but I thought it was okay.

Truth be told I don't even like prison flicks, but this one held my attention.

i was very surprised to come here and see all the negative reviews, i was glued to the movie, a very intense first hour, slows down a bit but then just gains insanely the last part, there was one single music piece in the movie which really seemed out of place. much of the comments seem to be how its unrealistic, those same comments flourished around another movie i really liked (that outdoor wilderness flick with baldwin and hopkins) and i like the replies "its entertainment, not facts". i was just blown away by this, can't remember the last time i saw such a thrilling movie, at the end of your seat.

Yes. (I know, probably not!) :-)

But, there are endless inconsistencies and complete strains of character logic throughout this thing. You can tell that the script went through many revisions, leaving the characters zig zagging around just to fit the intentions of the screenwriters.

Basically, it's all about deciding on what the conclusion you want and moving the pieces around just so you can get there. Meanwhile, the characters fall by the wayside.

THE MAIN THRUST OF THE FILM IS BASICALLY REDFORD RIFFING ON COOL HAND LUKE.

He needed to riff WAY better than this! "Cool Hand Luke" is absolutely on a different level.

COOL HAND LUKE IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FILM...OF COURSE I AGREE IT IS ON AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEVEL...THE LAST CASTLE IS ENJOYABLE BUT THIN AND FLAWED...AND THE SIMILARITIES TO LUKE ARE KIND OF OBNOXIOUS.

i didnt like this movie when i first saw it...but watching in 2021 I must say this movie has grown on me...it has a Lock Up(1989) feeling to it.

I wouldn't say I love it but I like it a lot. Its elevated by the excellent cast.
