Did Jeff always *spoilers*

give tips during fire-building challenges? What the heck? What good is the competition if he's sitting there walking them through it? They either know how to do it or they don't. I don't remember that happening before, but maybe I'm wrong.

The entire tone of Survivor has changed so much from what it started out as. Jeff does this with tribal councils also where I feel he leads people to think a certain way.

I watched the finale' last night only to see who won - never has there been a sole survivor where I couldn't hardly remember what they did in the game, but that happened last night.

I will watch the 40th season just because it will be fun to see some of the winners from the past and then I hope it's over.

And don't even get me started on the one on one with Kelli last night.

It's no secret that Jeff leads the Tribal Councils to where he wants (or is he told to make) the conversations to go. He sees all the behind the scene tapes and the "secret" interviews beforehand. So he knows exactly how to get them to say what he wants them to do. That's why while a typical council can be anywhere from 1 - 2 hours long you only see ten minutes or so.

You can hear Jeff sometimes talk directly about things he shouldn't possibly know about, preceded by the edit they later cobble together. It's seamless for us the viewer, but the only way the footage could have been shot that way in the first place is if Jeff already had his narrative prepared. Jeff always used to ask baiting questions to get tribals to spill the dirt. But now he just straight up hits the players over the head with a cartoon club. I remember in the past Jeff would ask something and the player would just zip their lips, refuse to talk. And he'd be like okay and drop it. That doesn't happen anymore.

Not quite the most undeserving winner, but certainly up there. I don't know what that one person in the jury was talking about with it being the first time a goat has won cause goats have been voted in out of spite a few damn times over the years.

reply

I think he won just because he was likeable, as they mentioned before, they voted out the players who would win the game.

not always, but Jeff has certainly given helpful advice and played to his favorites over the years. i definitely recall him offering tips in the fire challenges before.

didn't he actually pull a girl aside once and give her a pep talk when she was having a crying breakdown?
