Did anybody actually see this in a theater?
If so, what were your impressions? Others? Anybody else in a theater with you?

shareThis is clearly one of the biggest box office flops of all time.
Had I been drinking anything, I would have certainly done a spit take after observing the 2.5 rating on IMDB that flashed before my eyes after it posted.
Looks like the budget was $73 million and the global gross was around $30 million. I'm sure there have been bigger flops in movie history, but yes, this has to be up there (look like -58% return on investment if my math is correct). I didn't see this film, but I recall when it came out. At the time, John Travolta was one of Hollywood's leading stars, so it was especially odd that he would star in a film like this. I recall that at the time, the film was pretty much panned in the media.
shareI saw it in the theater when I was 16 maybe 17, and I have no memory of how I perceived it. I haven’t seen it since, not once in 20 years, so it must be complete shite.
shareYes i actually liked this because im a fan of travolta's and it sucks it has the rep of being the worst movie ever i thought it was an interesting concept but to each their own! i remember they gave a scratch card at the theatre that had the battlefield earth picture on it.It was a game where you won money.
shareYes. I didn't know what scientology was back then. Thought it was just a dumb fun scifi movie. Didn't realize I was watching a prophecy of some religion or whatever.
