I dated a guy a long time ago who played this film for me. It was one of his favorites. I kept thinking, "perfectly boring". Just not my kind of movie. It's the same reason I never watched Titanic. I don't like to watch a movie with drowning people. A real downer.

I get why people might not find the subject matter uplifting perhaps, but I will recommend Titanic for it is more engaging though.

I know Titanic got several awards and it's very popular. I like some movies with serious subject matter. But when a film is based on a true story and I know the ending is a tragedy, I just have a feeling of dread throughout and it makes me too sad to enjoy it.

Kate Winslet has boobies!

I avoided Titanic for years, but I broke down and watched it and it was better than average. The ending was very sweet. No way would I sit through it twice.

reply

I definitely get that. This and The Hunley...Although I don't think either film is boring and I love the music from both, I will not watch them again. As for Titanic, once was enough and the score may be great but... that damn song...

I remember that movie. We all thought it was stupid how George Clooney's character went back into the boat to drown instead of at least trying to swim up to the surface. Unfortunately all the men in the story drowned in real life, so they have to die in the film too.

However, the term "perfect storm" has been used many times in a clever way to describe shit hitting the fan in an epic manner, and for those three weather systems (including a hurricane) to come together like that was very good symbolism.
