Why didn't the guy wanna invite Doug to his Barbeque party?

In the episode where the new guy at work invites everyone from work but Doug to his barbeque party, we never got a real answer as to why. The most we got was he told Deacon he could take or leave Doug, but the guy invites everyone else even the janitor?

The writing in this episode felt a little lazy, like they couldn't think of anything clever for why the guy didn't like Doug so they just ended the episode without telling us.

In the boat Doug even pleads with him to invite him and the guy goes "No, its not gonna happen!", sounded like he really had something against Doug, but we never find out. Doug starts rocking the boat and the guy eventually just goes "Yeah alright you can come", and the episode ends. Really? the entire episode you wonder why he doesn't like Doug, and they never give you a reason.

Let's be honest. This is not the greatest show of the decade. And certainly not of all time.

But THIS is one of the greatest time-slots in the history of Television. Even to this day, Monday Nights on CBS makes millions for the network.

It had 9 seasons. A lengthy successful run. After "Everybody Loves Raymond" left the air as both a top TEN show and the Emmy win for "Best Comedy" in 2005...KOQ just couldn't be Monday night's anymore.

And how could it?

How does anyone actually top that?

It certainly hasn't been done since.

...

It wasn't "Murphy Brown" like in the 90's.
It wasn't Newhart" like the 80's.
And it wasn't a M.A.S.H" hit in the 1970's.

...

And it also wasn't a major hit like "Two and a Half Men" or a smash hit like "Big Bang Theory".

Both Monday nights blockbusters for the network in the 2000's and 2010's.

KOQ was more about Kevin James, Kevin James and Kevin James. And more Kevin James!

The show became redundant. The earlier cast was weeded out. Arthur became less and less. Carrie became even a bigger bitch.

Just more Kevin.

And that's fine. Kevin James is actually funny. He is a talented and funny guy.

But the writing wasn't. It wasn't as good as it's star. And I don't feel it ever tried to be.

I think the writers just got "a little lazy" with that premise with fat paychecks and all that jazz.

It was an easy gig. They did their job. And had their 9 year run.

Not much else to remember other then as you stated, "lazy".

This show was way funnier than the shows you mentioned.

He called Doug’s underpants way too big

he simply just didn't like Doug....let's be honest Doug can be a real jerk often. Look what he did to the guy who was getting laughs by doing impressions of other people.

I agree. And it's even for a sitcom totally unrealistic that the new guy would not invite one of his colleagues. It would be one of the most gauche things to do for the new guy and it would make him look rude and bad towards his colleagues incl. his boss. I don't think any boss or colleague would be cool if they saw one of their well-liked colleagues blanked. He'd get fired immediately. Thus, the new guy would invite everybody.
