She often seems to play the (at least slightly) dangerous/rebel woman. In Californication, she might come off at times as tame, but that's only in comparison to Hank Moody.
Also worth noting that, for her characters' romantic interests, they're usually the pursuer, and she's usually really, really hard to pursue.
I went to watch this movie a second time just because of her.
