One of Disney all time worst

This movie is one of the worse political agenda manufactured, pr constructed, uninspired piece of marketing ever put on screen.

There's no magic, no art, no anything, other than Disney's marketing department desire to suck up to asians, "females", and SJWs all at once.

I guess they run out of classic fairy tales (they totally didn't) and "ideas" (to steal) so they conjured this awful action movie with a lame and boring premise, characters, story, struggle, arch, themes, etc. just by plotting "we need a movie with a STRONG female that kicks ass(we are SO original!) AND we need some chineses". That's the inspiration and sole reason for this crap to exist.
Even the graphics are shit!

So just because the main character is a strong female lead that's chinese it's automatically a political agenda? yeah sure. Do you not realize this movie was made in 1998? I don't think it was trying to "suck up" to anyone, just tell a good story.

-no magic

really? a talking dragon is not magic? unless you mean "felt magical" and that's subjective.

-no art

there is artwork exhibited all throughout the film. you'd have to be blind not to see it.

-no anything

what? okay.

I've always enjoyed the plot and the songs, but maybe that's just because it's nostalgia. I usually dislike anything that disney churns out, but Mulan is actually one of the few I love.

reply

Well, everybody is entitled to an opinion.
I respect yours, and you clearly like this one. Good for you.

I cannot get past the mere strategic calculation behind it, from a greedy corporation who was only moved by that.

reply

Ah I thank you at least for a polite response. It seemed that your original post was spewing a lot of angry words but that was from two years ago (I'm the kind of person that will respond to a 20 year old post, I don't care.) of course I agree with you that disney is horrible in general.

reply

Oh please! Worse than their animal version of Robin Hood, Aristocats, and Oliver and Company?

reply

Yep.
Those had a budget 1/1000 of this overblown crap, and more honest intentions.
I like the first two you mentioned, they are good movies for little kids...you know, like disney used to?

reply

I'd rather watch Pinnochio, Snow White and the seven Dwarves, Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, or Beauty and the Beast.

reply

Duh.
Those are all Great movies.

hey now, all the movies you mentioned are good, but I can understand not liking a movie with only talking animals/anthropomorphic animals. Then again I watched these films a lot as a child and so I still think of them dearly but even after not watching them so many years, they hold up well.

reply

Based upon your "There's no magic, no art, no anything", I don't think you're ever watched this film, ever.

reply

Good catch lol.

reply

You didn't watch the film did you? What about the ancestors who appeared when Mulan needed them? No magic there?

reply

Magic as in a special moment that strikes emotionally, this movie feels like a fucking blueprint from start to finish calculated to check all the boxes.

That magic, not the bullshit you are talking about.

reply

Then they did not make this film for you.

reply

Clearly: I am not a little girl nor I am Chinese.
