a couple of questions about Nick Nightingale

1. why would he need to know the entry password if he is not coming in through the front door like a guest?! isn't he blindfolded and brought in by two big, well-dressed, well-spoken gentlemen? (who we assume picked his ass up from somewhere because they dropped his ass off at the hotel after the party)

2. why in the heck is he writing down a word like Fidelio........ it's not exactly hard to memorize and it's not the length and difficulty of a WIFI password

i know it's based on the novella, and it needs the plot to happen, but lol?

reply

They know who he is so why give him a completely different password?

And he is important to the ritual. He is an avatar for Lucifer/ Satan. The devil is a musician.

The blindfold alludes to Cupid/ Eros myth. You can see cupids sprinkled around the film.

The opposite of the winged creatures is the Fleur de Lis.

He wrote the word down because he wanted to lure Bill to the party. Maybe that was his price to join in.

reply

Nick didn't "lure him". He didn't even want Bill to go in the first place and ended up being punished for it.

reply

Yes, he lured him. Bill was his sacrifice, his price of admission.

reply

That doesn't make sense. Nick was going there anyway and had worked with the same group before. Did Nick unintentionally dangle a carrot by opening his big mouth about what he had seen? Yes. That however, doesn't mean that Nick was "luring him".

reply

He wanted to join them. They were the people control the doors to be opened. Considering the muscle they have and the fact that he was blind and helpless when he "performed" for them, why would he ever tell Bill what he did? Bill was just some guy he was acquainted with years ago.

reply

Nick didn't "want to join them". He was already working for them. And Bill being Nick's price of admission is nonsense. The group didn't want Bill there, they expelled him and told him not to come back once they found out who he was. So nothing you said remotely makes any sense.

reply

🤣

reply

Perhaps he was in on it and set Bill up so everything would fall into place for him to attend

reply

Both minor writing mistakes.

The first, maybe he arrives at the gate, says the password, then they blindfold him.
It would make sense, except that this does NOT happen to Bill, who is just let inside.

reply

1. I don't think he was blindfolded entering the building, because he was given the address as well. It is likely he was simply one of the staffs coming earlier setting things up, checking equipment, etc., only blindfolded when entering the hall again when the actual event happens.

2. There are people quite forgetful, I think he was worrying about forgetting the word all together.
