Malloy was certainly a major asshole, and supremely unlikable, but Cyrus was definitely a worse human. Cyrus was an unrepentant murdering scumbag. Malloy was just on a vengeance trip because his co-worker (and probably at least a casual buddy) got murdered—by Cyrus—which made Malloy make some arrogant choices and significant errors in judgment. But Malloy’s mistakes can ultimately be forgiven, and karma takes his car from him in such an absurdly wonderful way. I doubt Malloy ever murdered anyone in cold blood, or had any desire to (though his anger issues sure hint that he might be capable of committing a crime similar to Poe’s).
There is no way to condone, let alone forgive, the actions of an serial-killing animal like Cyrus. In fact, criminals like Cyrus actually make Malloy’s blanket contempt towards all the inmates on that plane understandable.

Unlikable, yes.

Most of them were the worst of the worst. Who knows how many lives were lost from it crashing on the strip. Shooting it down over the desert was probably a good strategic idea.

Actually, Malloy made a comment about the civilian casualties would be enormous because they didn’t shoot the plane down, and he was right. Shooting the plane down would have saved lives. It crashed on the strip in Las Vegas.

Malloy was a dick, but he was absolutely not anywhere close to the evil person Cyrus was.

What was the most evil thing that Cyrus did?

From the movie:

Vince Larkin: “This one has done it all. Kidnapping, robbery, murder, and extortion. His name is Cyrus Grissom, A.K.A. Cyrus the Virus. Thirty-nine years old, twenty-five of them spent in our institutions. But he's bettered himself on the inside. Earned two degrees, including his juris doctorate. He's also killed eleven fellow inmates, incited three riots, and escaped twice. Likes to brag he's killed more men than cancer. Cyrus is a poster child for the criminally insane. He's a true product of the system.”

Also, there is the killing of Sims, the guard he executed as the plane was taking off at Carson City, and there is the little “the last thing that little Casey Poe ever smells will be my stinking breath” line, implying that he is going to kill her, and possibly do other atrocities to her if he ever gets to her.

Doesn’t really sound like he’s a Boy Scout.

I know you’re just trying to get people to play along, and I bit hard, but yeah, Cyrus is way worse of a human being than Malloy, and it’s not even close. He’s the main goddamn villain of the movie.

"Also I doubt that the car could get fixed as Larkin said that he knew of a good bodyshop. I totally think it was destroyed beyond repair."

I think Larkin was trying to lighten the mood, I don´t think he actually thought it could be fixed. lol
