The Eagles

What was your opinion of that band before and after you watched this movie?

reply

Big fan of The Eagles before watching, and still a big fan after watching.

I was never a fan (and I love most music, but that lazy, drony, overly laid-back Californian soft-rock stuff isn't my bag), and so I loved Jeff's line in the film. Since I already loved the movie, I felt vindicated when he said he hated The Eagles.

hi harvey

Some of their songs I can still listen to, but they certainly overplay them on the radio.

Per imdb trivia, Glenn Frey met Jeff Bridges at a party and yelled at him about the anti-Eagles scene. Which wasnt anti, really ...the cabbie liked the Eagles and threw the Dude out of the cab. T-Bone Burnett was a music consultant on the movie and evidently his dislike of the Eagles fed this line. Me, I recall Glenn Frey on 60 Minutes being asked why the Eagles were so great and he reeled off the titles of all their hits in order. ALL of them.Seemed a little oversold on himself...hence his anger at the Dude?

reply

Weird that he would react to Jeff Bridges that way about a line delivered by a fictional character in a movie.

reply

Exactly! My guess is that the late Glenn Frey didnt even want a fictional character bad mouthing the Eagles, especially one played by the cool Jeff Bridges..

Been a fan of The Eagles since 1960 when they won the NFC Championship----

------- OH WAIT-----

reply

I liked them although I wasn't a massive fan of the Eagles, I don't like Don Henley and Glenn Frey as people, especially the way they've treated Don Felder.
