Poison Ivy has to have the dumbest villain scheme in any Batman movie

Her plan to "save" the Earth was to A) unleash an army of genetically modified invasive plants that would inevitably kill all native flora and B) cause a new ice age that would most certainly kill most if not all animals.

Basically, she would've created the worst environmental disaster in history. And while it may have made sense that Mr. Freeze would want to help her takeout Batman, but why would he be complicit in her plan to destroy the world?

reply

She probably had plans to betray Freeze. She strongly implies she wants to have sex with Mr. Freeze. My guess it could have been to satisfy her ego; if she can seduce the most cold-hearted man in the world, then she could seduce anyone and thus conquer the world. Ivy only cares about her plants and it could be surmised she actually has sex with her plants.

That makes lots of sense. Plus, it's easier to take control of the world while it's in the middle of a global disaster. Think of it as controlled chaos. Once the carnage is over and freezy boy is taken care of, she could resume the world back to a normal state, one that is desperate to have things back to normal, making it easier to subjugate the people under her new rule.

Exactly! Plus, as Pamela Isley, she would have proof (global freezing) for why everyone should be on with her plan to “save the planet” and let her plant “children” take over the world.

reply

It's Insidious I tell you! So genius a devious plan that it is cleverly disguised under the ruse of cartoonish unbelievability.

The biggest problem with their plan is that plants don't survive in freezing temperatures and both scientists should know this, yet it's never addressed at all, so it's clearly a plot hole.

reply

Maybe Ivy would keep them in a greenhouse until the ice melts after everyone else is killed and then release the plants to repopulate the planet.

reply

That could be possible provided that she could find one without any being encased in ice.

reply

I feel like she would be accounting for biodiversity in her plants and just reworking the whole Earth into a sentient plant-ruled ecosystem, and...

...wait a minute...animal-plant hybrids? In a movie with a diamond-powered freeze ray and an observatory smack-dab in the middle of Day-Glo City?

What are the Vegas odds on this movie being goofy schlock?

PS
The villains' plan in The Dark Knight Rises is to reduce the civilization of Gotham to ashes so it can rebuild as a worthier place. They will do this by nuking it. What will there be to rebuild? Giant cockroaches? The League of Shadows needs to spend more time on goals and a little less time on explosive powder class.
