Are Fabienne and Captain Koons the only genuinely "good" people in this movie?

They seem to be the only two characters that don't seem involved in any sort of criminal activities. Everyone else is involved with illegal actions of some sort.

The taxi driver? Esmeralda Villa Lobos, I think her name was.

Buddy Holly was overcharging for milkshakes, but other than that he seemed like a good guy.

reply

Yeah but she was a bit of a freak. I mean she was kind of getting off on wanting someone to tell her how it feels to kill a man. We didn’t see it, but I bet she was up to some weird stuff.

reply

If I was a betting man, yeah, I'd agree with you, and she's freaky/kinky. But the movie doesn't give us a direct "she's a bad person" moment.

I stand by Buddy Holly, though.

I might, to some extent, add Jules to the list. He's deeply entrenched at the beginning of the movie, but by the end of it, isn't he a good person?

reply

Well, it seems like he’s heading that way. We do know that he delivered the case to Marcellus and I don’t think he was going to let anyone stop him, even if he had to kill them.

reply

Yes, but arguably that's a fulfillment of his promises and obligations, which is a morally good action. Depending on what's in the briefcase, it might even be morally-justifiable to kill for it.

I mean, if it's just money or something, then not, but if the "it's his soul" theory is true, well, Jules might be fighting like heck to give Marsellus Wallace another shot at being good himself.

Either way, Jules is trying. He's trying real hard to be the shepherd.

You dig it the most. 😀

reply

Oh, I dig it, Mrmojo.

She agreed to lie for Butch, she wasn’t innocent

reply

Buddy Holly wasn’t overcharging, the restaurant he worked at was (arguably).

reply

Fair enough; Buddy Holly was just following orders from Jackrabbit Slim...

What about coffee shop?

reply

Not sure if you would count Bonnie as a character in the movie, but the little we hear about her would indicate that she's a good person.
