The only true flaw in this movie, Tarantino's acting

You guys can try to rationalize it and defend it all you want, but it truly is dreadful, laughably bad acting, especially this scene

Yep ... this is the one thing in the movie that I would liked to have seen it portrayed differently ...

I thought he was fine.

reply

Same here, never stuck me as bad. He seems like he really is Jimmy. There's way worse example of bad acting our there by bigger names.

reply

I thought he was funny, especially when he talks about the dead n-word in his garage. I wish he had been Jewish so he could've said schvartze.

reply

OP no need to rationalise. I agree, and many as well it seems, that QT as Jimmie was the only flaw in this otherwise masterpiece. I cringed as well seeing him out of his depth in his 2-sizes too big bathrobe and the QT hand motion whilst talking.

Good to read from the posts here as well that the role was originally meant for Mr Pink, I can only imagine how he would have done the scene.

It's almost as bad as if he was playing the role of an Australian cowboy in the south. Oh wait he's done that, and was equally terrible, if not for the very satisfying self-explosion scene.

reply

I agree he was pretty bad.. seems out of place. he's not the clint eastwood.

reply

After learning that he replaced Steve Buscemi, I would say he's not even Steve Buscemi level of acting, let alone Clint Eastwood.

Here; I re-wrote the scene so we can still keep terrible Tarantino in the role:

[Jules, Vincent and Jimmie are drinking coffee in Jimmie's kitchen]
Jules: Mmmm! Göddamn, Jimmie! This is some serious gourmet shït! Usually, me and Vince would be happy with some freeze-dried Taster's Choice right, but he springs this serious gourmet shït on us! What flavor is this?
Jimmie: Knock it off, Julie.
Jules: [pause] What?
[Jules shoots Jimmie dead]
Vincent: OK, now what?! We got two dead bodies here!
Jules: Calm your ass Vincent! All we got to do now is call Marcellus!
Vincent: And Marcellus calls The Wolf! Great idea! I guess Monster Joe might be disposing of two bodies instead of one!
[They both rear their heads back and laugh heartily, clinking their coffee cups]
[Freeze frame]
[Dissolve to Winston ringing the doorbell]

I can definitely imagine Buscemi doing a much better and more memorable job, but I don't think he was that awful. Julia Sweeney as Raquel the junkyard chick was much worse. She didn't even come across as a professional actress.

reply

I've never considered Julia Sweeney as a professional actress. I have no idea how she's had the roles that she has. I think she's horrible. Her voice acting is only slightly better.

reply

I liked it. It was hillarious.

reply

not Travolta's glaring gayness?
