Yikes

Watched this for the first time since seeing it in the theaters. Good Lord is this a creepy movie!

I don't find it creepy at all. Yes, Mathilda had a huge crush on Leon but he loved her as a daughter. You can see how uncomfortable he was with her obvious attraction to him. At least that's how I saw it.

But people see things differently. Some people walked away from this believing he loved her romantically and others walked away believing he had a paternal love for her. Nothing wrong with different views 😊

I haven't seen this movie in a long time - I do recall it felt inappropriate - but at the same time I was interested in seeing something taboo on screen - not your usual action-revenge-hitman film - and left many things open to interpretation.

Mathilda seems to be the one who makes any sort of advance towards Leon... when she even mentions something like this he becomes startled and chokes while drinking milk and avoids her.

Maybe eventually if they had been together longer something would have happened - maybe not.

I also think Leon had some very mild mental disability - he was great as a hitman - but was a very lonely, methodical, needed a routine, maybe also OCD... apparently lacked malice... seemed extremely noble.

Why don't you just say what's so creepy about it?

Looks like we found the groomer! ⬆️⬆️⬆️

DON'T EVER SPEAK FOR ME, KOWALSKI.

Kurgan - Highlander?

I'm pretty sure Kendricks is just asking for your opinion as to what you saw that made it "creepy" for you.

When you post a vague statement like "Watched this for the first time since seeing it in the theaters. Good Lord is this a creepy movie!" I would think you would expect people to ask more questions.

reply

Why do you insist on making yourself look like an utter fool?

reply

What's so creepy about it? Gary Oldman was very vile but not really creepy. Or are you talking about Matilda's crush on Leon? He handled that very maturely and it was perfectly plausible. Don't you ever deal with kids?

reply

The film is not a political statement but fiction. And fiction should be able to contain moments that feel "creepy".

Luc Besson. Leon and Le Femme Nikita - the best.

reply

I agree with these two and I would also add The Fifth Element 😊

Yes yes.

I agree with others (even Kolwalski, surprisingly!) that you need to elaborate, because you are not using common sense. First, I'd like to ask... are you a male or a female bot? If male, I think you are being genuine, but perhaps naive. If female, you are definitely full of shit.

Likely female, but my Naval recruiter was a Chief Sandy K, a white male, so you never know.

This is a French movie directed by Luc Besson. They aren't neurotic about sex and sexual urges. They are honest, and their women are not cowards.

Never believe a woman who denies their early teen libido, or need for intimacy at any age. It's off-the-charts. Females are degenerate sluts & liars. The only thing they value more than sex is control & secrets, therefore their go-to word is... wait for it... "creepy." They are projecting.

Men, no matter how violent or methodical (i.e. Leon) they may seem, are not actually socially-inclined or sometimes even capable of seduction. That is not their forte. Even at 12 yo, or whatever, Mathilda is light-years ahead of Leon at initiating & appreciating intimacy. SHE is the predator/groomer!! Society will tell you otherwise, but that is because we aid women in the pretense of purity. Besson was being totally frank and above board w/ the viewer & that's all too uncommon nowadays.

As a realist (and sometime, misogynist), I don't give a fuck. I'll spoil any woman's dirty little secrets. Their need for control is pathetic. Newflash... nobody would buy it if Leon proceeded to slap her ass and break her hymen... here's what would happen:

The visual would cause skepticism in the audience—or at least those with actual life experience. People find it easy to accept covert intentions or desires because men talk a big game, but in their heart they intuitively understand that a middle-aged man doesn't force himself. He's sends her to the store to buy milk. And he did.

So, Sandy, how does it feel to be outed as a fantasizing slut?
