I hate when al gets killed it's hard to watch

Ditto. It's a shame that they could not have offed Frank instead.

reply

No I wouldn't want to see Frank die either.

reply

I feel the same way

reply

Me too. The scent of geezer was all over Frank.

reply

What do you mean by that?

reply

He was way too old to portray that character, to be chasing that girl & to have the girl chase him. It was ridiculous for Eastwood to brazen it out in this role.

reply

It’s creepy the love scenes. And following her to the lift and then her room.

reply

Intothenight Dude, grow up.

reply

Uh, him being too old was the whole fucking point of the character..... did you not catch on to that from the "face it Frank, you're too old for this shit" type of dialogue and the fact he was running out of breath during the motorcade/chase scenes? The movie is constantly harping on his age! Frank is supposed to be an over the hill Secret Service Agent.... that was the point lol. Your criticism of Eastwood being too old for the character makes zero sense.

reply

I think that was the point. Him being the younger guy and not being able to escape death

It’s tough to watch but there needed to be a meaningful sacrifice in the game of cat and mouse.

My only issue is that the film let Frank off too easy, he practically bullied Al into staying on and the next day it cost Al’s life. Frank was torn up about failing to save Kennedy - something nobody could have achieved - yet his conscience glosses over cajoling a frightened rookie who clearly didn’t have the stomach for the job and was dead set on quitting into carrying on, effectively killing him.

A scripting flaw in an otherwise excellent thriller.
