The Running Man and Total Recall are related

Schwarzenegger movies set in the future, both have a Latina leading lady and middle aged villain, black and blue storm troopers and 80's fashions.

When I was a kid I used to get those two movies mixed up in my mind. I'd rent The Running Man and be expecting scenes from Total Recall, and vice versa.

I think Total Recall and RoboCop have a close relationship as they are both directed by Paul Verhoeven..I don't know how he did it but his movie sets always looked great with vivid, clear lighting.

Running Man has future commercials that you would see in RoboCop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers.

Both movies are similar being Arnold movies set in the future but the cogs Of The Running Man are like The Hunger Games where people are hunted to death on a game show while Total Recall is more like The Bourne Identity with a secret agent with memory loss is hunted by shadowy agents.

reply

They're like Romeo & Juliet and Titanic to Leonardo Dicaprio.

It's like if The Running Man was Pillow Talk then Total Recall is Lover Come back, both films have Rock Hudson, Doris Day and Tony Randall, they share similar plots, they look and act the same.

reply

Not really.

It's more a case of 'The Running Man being a USELESS rip-off of Total Recall AND Robocop AND some other movies, without successfully being even nearly as good as any of them'.

'The Running Man' is not well-enough done to be watchable - it's a useless movie that shouldn't exist. When you can watch Total Recall and Robocop, WHAT can you possibly get out of watching 'The Running Man'? That movie offers NOTHING that the better movies it tries to rip off do not do much better.

No. The Running Man is a Stephen King novella and Total Recall is a Philip K. Dick novella and is called "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale".
