Movie aged so badly

I mean if I was the kid I'd call my parents after masturbating 5 times to gay porn in the bathtub

It's a shame so many young people these days can't appreciate older films.

If we can't relate to someone or something we can't like it

You did what ???

I know what you mean. Film quality has really gone down the toilet, regardless of better digital cameras and special-effects. One benefit kids could get from films like this, is to get a glimpse of what life was like before internet and cell phones.

True, if home alone were made today the main character would be a 9 year old struggling with his sexual identity left alone at home being chased by two drag queens wanting to break into his house and steal his mother's makeup.

you forgot "black" and "disabled" , when cynically listing stereo types and claiming "if this *insert film* was made today.....

reply

Only if it was directed by Spike Lee.

If it was a kid today , he wouldnt be able to find his phone charger without his parents.

I forget how they managed to make the fairly basic yet functional comms equipment of 1990 redundant though.
What went wrong with parents calling home?
and dont tell me they didnt have a answer machine - all americans did

reply

Yeah..all of those aside, I think they'll still like it..but they'll need an adult to explain..Same with everything.

A pre-Judd Apatow blockbuster era Paul Rudd, as an Alicia Silverstone "Clueless" (1995) classmate said,
"We need to appreciate the Stones, as our successors in later generations will call us dated for loving Pearl Jam" (something like that..) besides nostalgia the big thing.

Glad if I could have been of any help on the topic. Toodle-oo!

You'll recall that the night before the family was leaving, there was a windstorm that knocked down several large trees and destroyed the power-lines, causing not only to shut off the power, but the tech guy working on them the next morning said that the phone lines were a mess, and it would take days to fix them.

So that explains why the family slept in, because they depended on their alarm clocks, which were all plugged into the walls. It also explains why they couldn't call Kevin, though it doesn't make sense that they were able to call the OTHER family homes and get answering machines. (Continuity error).
