Imagine Beatty finally gave up the rights and a reboot was announced (more Sin Cityesque but PG13): who as who?

I think Peter Krause would had been solid too, but he's probably too old now.

Really good casting choices, Hamm would be perfect as Tracy and Penn as Big Boy, he already kinda played a similar character in Gangster Squad.

What I would like to know is how has Beatty held onto the rights for so long? He has done nothing with it for 32 years. You can't hold on to a patent for that long unless you are actively using it.

He did an interview as Dick Tracy a few years ago in order to retain the rights I believe
