Is this a good movie?

I have never seen this film but i see it popping up even to this day, so it has to have some redeeming qualities. Is this better or just as good compared to other 80's films, say like 48hrs, Red Dawn, Top Gun?

It's matter of what you define as good. It's a spin on the formula of a western with plenty of bar room brawls and cheesy one liners. I discovered it as an adult instead of seeing it as a kid but its a ton of fun. It's perfect to enjoy with a pizza and a few beers or late at night.

It's crap....

But it's good for a few laughs. Certainly not the worst film ever but the plot is ridiculous, the fight scenes are just alright, the dialogue is corny but at least Patrick Swayze is in it. Beyond this, it's a waste of time.

There are better 80's action films out there.

It's cheesy and very 80's. I liked it more than 48hrs, Red Dawn or Top Gun, maybe because it's funnier.
I'd put it on par with Critters.

Sure its cheesy but If you take it for what it is, it is still a damn well made film! Propably due to Joel Silver producing. The story is simple and acting is pretty good too. Sam Elliott is also just too handsome, cant get over it.

Absolutely, it's enjoyable. It doesn't set out to be anything more than a simple Western in a modern setting, it doesn't need to. Sam Elliott is the perfect side-kick in this one (pun intended).

On a side note - I just looked up the Siskel And Ebert review of Road House. Holy Crap!! this review is freaking hilarious!

Ebert wanted to like it. Siskel just had a stick up his butt the day he saw it.

Haha...

Yeah, you definitely can't have a stick up your butt when you watch this thing.

Ebert did think it was "entertaining" but would have never called it "good". :)

Idk if it's good, but it is a fantastic movie.

Out of the 4 movies, this is my favorite. Hell, this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

It's got all the great action trademarks, but also does it with a tongue in cheek.

It wouldn't win any awards but it is an enjoyable movie. Lots of action, decent humor, and a pretty good story. I'd recommend it :)

It belongs in the same category as Red Dawn and Top Gun.
