With the exception of the old man and the wife. B-Movie type of acting.

The guy playing Louis Creed was pretty wooden.

Other than that, the acting was fine. Fred Gwynne was brilliant.

The lead actor was horrid. He had a monotonous voice and only one expression.

The little girl who played Ellie gave one of the worst child performances I ever seen. So whiny and obnoxious.

It was quite realistic, as anyone who spends time with their kids could tell you.

Yes, the little girl was in waaay over her head during her emotional scenes. I thought everyone else did a fine job.
