How was Melanie Griffith the hero of "Working Girl" (1988)? Her character was just as bad as Sigourney Weaver's.

Sure, Sigourney Weaver stole Griffith's idea but that's business and Weaver was pretty nice to Griffith. Griffith's character even says she admired Weaver and then the stealing of her idea set her character off.

She takes Weaver's identity, steals her lover and destroys her career. In any other setting, this would be a thriller with Griffith as a deranged lunatic but in Working Girl, she's this nice, sweet girl who becomes empowered through deceit and wrecking someone's life. And then her character has the nerve to say how you should always say please.

No, she wasn't.
She took her stolen idea back and pursued it.
Weaver got what was coming to her.

Bingo.

Since Sigourney Weaver is a nice lady in real life, I could work for her.

That's why I hated this movie. It's the story of someone backstabbing and fucking their way to the... middle.
