They don't make them like this anymore. Underrated as hell.

This is arguably one of the best films of its time, for the genre. I don't care what any haters say, I have spun my Sleepaway Camp trilogy in my DVD player more times than I'd like to admit.

There's some sort of campy ( No pun intended ) charm to particularly the second and third films that I can't get enough of. They crack me up, and Angela just kicks ass.

The movie captured the feel of the 80's slasher perfectly. The set was great, the cheap crappy actors were great, and the kills were off the chain. Slashers today should take a look at this, and learn to have a little bit of fun as they did with this film.

Terribly underrated, IMO.

I totally agree.i remember renting these over and over at the video store.I bought the box set in 2004

yes, i love the packaging of that box set. so what is in the camp diary?

i already made a post about this. this is the best slasher film ever made. i don't care what your reasoning is, i don't care what your point of view/perspective, or personal taste is when it comes to slasher films if you are a fan of these films this technically and provably is the best slasher film ever made. it has everything a funny slasher film needs and at the highest level.

i know exactly what you are talking about when talking about this particular charm that this film and part 3 have which is just so amazing to behold. the first film is just ok, it's a pedestrian slasher film until the end which just is like 1 minute long so we should talk about this film and part 3 more than the first film. i don't know why people respect the first film so much more than it's 2 sequels.

yeah the feel of this film and part 3 is so beautiful. it has this mood, atmosphere, this essential to the '80s look, feel, mood, atmosphere which is so the most nostalgic thing that anyone can experience from the '80s. it perfectly encapsulates everything we love, cherish, and hold so dear about the '80s and growing up in the '80s. no one can capture that anymore in movies because we aren't there anymore. that's why films like this film and part 3 are so important in preserving our childhoods.

part 2 and 3 are so free with their unabashed, sex, nudity, and violence. these things are all taken to the extreme and in the best ways possible. voyeuristic nudity and sex scenes which is the best kinds of these things. a laid back, not taking themselves seriously atmosphere. this is pure slasher film Heaven. the amazing thing is part 3 is just as good as part 2.

so, is this film and part 3 as celebrated as sleepaway camp? because i've never heard about their cult status' but i have heard about sleepaway camp's cult status.

Angela 2 KICKS ASS

They're so much fun. Strong showcases in how to make a great film on a shoestring budget.

These films don't appeal to snobs or cinephiles but for people looking to have a laugh on a drunken saturday night they're absolute gems!

More like overrated.

Terrible all around.

I remember liking the second movie but didn't think the third one was any good.

I felt the same way. It lacks the mojo of the previous film. There's less depth as far as human interest goes: The characters and their relations are so exaggerated it's campy, which kills any realism. I realize it's an amusing 80's slasher flick set at a youth camp, but the two preceding movie's included gems in the coming-of-age context, which is largely lacking here. Still, it has its entertaining moments. Redhead Tracy Griffith (Marcia) and Stacie Lambert (Jan) are highlights.
