First three seasons

were great with biting humor, but after that it became so stupid.

I once stopped watching around half of the seasons and took a pause, then I watched all episodes. I can't say that it went downshift, but a lot of episodes were necessary, especially spinoff episodes.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0642305/?ref_=ttls_li_tt was the funniest episode!

Well, yeah, that was when the show was at its best. Agree that is a very funny episode.

reply

no, it was just funny in a different way.

later seasons are gold.

Isn't it an interesting coincidence that the first three seasons happened in the glorious eighties, then the nineties rolled around and things became dark and stupid?

I mean, how this show and your comment reflects just how great the 1980s was compared to any decade that came after it.

There was something in the eighties.. something magical that we lost, and haven't gotten back ever since.

In general, this show went downhill after Steve left. There are some good Jefferson episodes, but the show became a parody of itself soon after.

Most shows go downhill after the fifth season. Despite MWC becoming sillier with Jefferson, it's still funny for most of its run. The only time it got unwatchable was when they brought the little kid in for a while (or maybe that was the final seasons? I get them mixed up). If you're poor, this show is always comforting.
