Well he died in part 3 and he wasn't in part 4( cause he was dead) and the subtitle signaled to fans that the 'real' Jason was back....so it makes sense.

He died in part 4 (the final chapter). 5 was an imposter Jason that audiences hated. The title ‘Jason Lives’ was used to make the audience aware ahead of time that the real Jason was back.
