On a scale of 0-10 how did you like Superman III?

I give Superman III a 7/10, it was an enjoyable although not a great film, I absolutely loved Christopher Reeve's performance as Superman/Clark Kent, I thought it was great seeing Annette O'Toole having a bigger role as Lana Lang, Robert Vaughan was adequate as Ross Webster but I did long for Gene Hackman's performance as Lex Luthor.

Overall not as great as the first two films but still an enjoyable film although more lighthearted than the first two films.

2/10. And only for the scene where Clark Kent and Superman fight each other. This movie sucks so much. The first 2 movies were good and had decent story, effects, and the right amount of humor. Then they make this movie where the villains are generic rich corrupt business leaders who want to build a giant weapon. And they hire Richard Pryor to program the systems of the weapon. And Richard Pryor acts unfunny and stupid. And he gets more screentime than Superman does. I am in the minority preferring Superman 4 to this. It's not on par with the first 2 but it's got way more interesting stuff going on in it than this movie does. Sure a lot of the 4th one is stupid but in a fun kind of way. I really don't get how people can think 4 is worse than this one. I'd probably give the 4th one a 5/10 and I haven't seen it in a long time but this one is just awful.

This movie is bad, but IV is worse. As Christopher Reeve wrote in his autobiography “The less said about Superman IV the better.”

3/10. Even as a kid I found it pretty lame compared to the first two movies. Of course, much worse was to come.

I'd give it a 1 or a 2.

I never knew that there was a Part III, until the late 90s, in spite of knowing and watching Parts I, II, and IV (all broadcasted on TV). When I had the chance to watch the film, I was so crushed. The horrid over-the-top slapstick comedy, lacking Superman, and the retched third act destroyed my brain.

I don't know why Part IV gets so much hate and mockery, while Part III is overlooked.

The existence of Superman IV didn’t clue you in to the existence of III?

reply

Absolutely not lol. I was a young child in the 90's and didn't know how to read Roman numerals, is my guess.

2. Cheesy garbage.
