Did anyone feel bad for Brad when he'd gotten fired?

I did because the customer was the one who started being a jerk towards him, I don't blame Brad for going off on him, plus Brad was a good employee.

I would have lit into that customer once I got fired. Brad let that schmuck off easy.

I would hope everyone felt bad for brad. I just can't imagine giving any fucks about people wanting money back from a fast food joint.

He is a typical sly, difficult customer. Note that he ate his entire meal before complaining. This is probably part of his scam to eat at restaurants for free. Also notice the difference in how he addresses Brad and describes the problem with his meal, and how he speaks to the manager.

Two mistakes were made here. The manage should not have but Brad at the register if he hadn't been trained. Brad didn't really know the proper procedure for a refund. That was the manager's mistake.

Brad made a mistake in not simply, and calmly, telling the customer he would have to get his manager.

Brad also suffered for having a bad manager. I worked retail (not food service) for forty years. The company I worked for backed up their associates. They did not tolerate customers being rude to associates. When I worked part time and just full time I witnesses customers being told to leave and not come back for yelling at associates or trying to bully them into violating rules. When I earned keys to the store, I kicked out a few as well. Our associates were also given reasonable authority to grant discounts for minor issues without calling managers. And we would never put someone on the register who was not trained and didn't know policies.

The manager didn't have brad on the register, brad jumped up there covering for the guy with Glasses who shouldn't have went to the bathroom.

Ah, I misremembered. It has been a long time since I saw this film. The rest of my comments stand, though.

Well, the customer can be a jerk. That's one of the perks of being a customer. But the customer never threatened Brad. He is the one who did the threatening. So I don't really feel that bad for him. And plus it's a fast food job! It wasn't like he was the president of the bank or something. And he was kind of a dick to his girlfriend. And in his next job he throws all the food he was being paid to deliver to a customer right out the window! And he really should have locked the bathroom door.

I sympathize with Brad, but if an employee threatens a customer with "I'm going to kick your ass" and his boss finds out about it, there is simply no way that employee is NOT going to get fired. Doesn't matter how much of an absolute douchebag the customer is. The only exception might be if the customer made a legit threat violence against the employee first.
