My thoughts

The cast was very pleasant, I don’t know if they improvised much but the script was excellent and felt so spontaneous. A uneventful film like this needs good dialogues and it delivered. My favourite line: “She was supposed to grab your pecker, not pecker in the popcorn!” Now, I’m not kidding y’all, here’s another rottentomato consensus very similar to my review: “Diner transports audiences back to the 1950s with a refreshing lack of sentimentality, evoking the thrill of everyday life with its ensemble's potent chemistry and an authentic sense of spontaneity.” My rating: 7/10

It's a great movie and a good movie to watch at Christmastime.

I didn't like this at all. I found it boring and I didn't like the characters. It's a 5/10 from me.

Since it’s a dialogue driven movie I can understand you not liking it if you couldn’t get into it right off the start.

I haven't seen it in years. I guess I rated it a 7. Now all I really think about it, is that it's a movie where Mickey Rourke was still hot.

Yeah, I guess.

I like the part where Daniel Stern quizzes his fiance about his record collection and musical tastes.
It's over-the-top to expect someone to share your passion so closely, but also reflects a certain desire for people to find a genuine soul mate. Funny, kind of sad, and touching.

And what about that test she had to pass in order to get married with the guy who loves football!? Lmao

Honestly, I thought the dialogue was probably the weakest part of this movie and for a drama that usually spells doom. There's just not very many interesting conversations going on in Diner. I wasn't expecting Shakespeare but something that was a little more engrossing would have helped.

I suppose it captures the time fairly well but the story is not really that intriguing, it mainly revolves around a group of friends hanging out at a diner and having juvenile conversations.

The characters are okay I guess, I read a little bit about this movie and apparently it's loosely based on some real people that the director actually knows, so it's kind of hard to judge this part of it.... at any rate, I'll give it a 4.5 out of 10.

It's not terrible but it doesn't really bring anything new to the genre. We've seen this film before.
