Anyone else love this one just as much as the original?

The first film is considered "one of the funniest films ever made" by the American Film Institute, and a classic amongst film parodies, but the sequel tends to be overlooked I think. Last I heard Jim Abrahams and David and Jerry Zucker have never watched it.

Whenever I watch the original, I always put in this one next. Basically a rehash, but I love it. Without a doubt one of the most underrated sequels ever. I would have loved an AIRPLANE III had it been made in the early 1980's. But if one were to be made now, I don't think it would be the same.

I enjoyed it as much of the first one but I don't give it as much credit as the first one since it basically just copied it.

I'm actually watching this one right now on the STARZ Comedy Channel and before this the first Airplane from 1980 was on too    .

Both are classic favorites of mine here too   .

I guess it doesn't add up to the original, but I like it nearly as much. My feelings are that most people dismiss it due to no involvement from the Zucker brothers, and no Leslie Nielsen. Nevertheless, it is way better than the "parodies" that Hollywood spews out today, including the Zucker-directed Scary Movie 3. IMHO, that was the very first which ruined spoof movies. The predecessor of the Seltzer/Friedberg era, if you will. The brothers have lost a little credit lately.

I prefer II over the original. Shatner's character Commander Buck Murdock seals it.

Motown, get your Detroit jukebox jheri curl ass in this chicken sh!t chop-chop, ASAFP!

It’s a great sequel that deserves far more attention. The fact that pretty much everybody returns except Nielsen is impressive, and the gags come as thick and fast as the original, but maybe aren’t quite as strong on the whole. Shatner is a great addition.

Hard to believe the Zucker brothers weren’t involved given how well this keeps up with original.

i love both films.

It's not as memorable for me as the first film, with the "Drinking Problem", "Get a Hold of Yourself!", "Don't Call Me Shirley", Steve McCroskey's "I picked the wrong day to...", and Rex Kramer walking through the mirror/double sunglasses gags, but I do really like the film, and I think it's very funny in its own right.

yes but Shatner saying "no tower?!" is memorable af

He says it like he's sad, he he, and how about Ted Striker's record? Then again, irony can be pretty ironic:-).

I actually prefer Ariplane 2 over the first movie.

The first movie had Leslie Nielsen but despite of his ines being legendary he wasn't in the movie for a very long time.

And for the rest Airplane 2 is funnier in my opinion. William Shatner is pure comedy gold.
