Uncut gore footage is coming!

Shout Factory has announced that as part of their 16 disc blu ray box set that is coming out in October, the uncut gore footage (including the original death scene for Jeff and Sandra) will be a bonus feature. They did say that the footage is from a vintage VHS so the quality isn’t the best, and it cannot be recut into the film, but still awesome news regardless. So glad I ordered this set.

We'll never see the nudity because the actress (Marta Kober) was only 17.

Has this ever been seen before?

reply

Very few people likely have....paramount insiders, MPAA, etc. Paramount claimed the footage was lost. I remember a number of years ago, a guy in Australia claimed to have seen it on a rented copy but was never verified.

Is this regular Bluray, 3D Bluray, or 4K Bluray? If it's the later 2, I won't be able to watch it. Still not keen on buying a new TV and Bluray player.

reply

A number of them are 4K scans of the original print, but on regular blu ray, not UHD blu ray. Part 3 includes the 3D and 2D versions.

reply

That's good then. Probably wait til after Christmas to buy it though.

reply

I would think it'll end up online at some point.

Time to jump into 2015 mate. Ditch your horse and cart. Hop on board a hoverboard and catch a ride on that flying car

reply

I want this, but it's hard to justify when I have 1-8 on Blu Ray.

reply

All the 1-8 transfers are much better in the new box set, the old blu rays are obsolete now.

reply

Sweet!!!

reply

Don't think I'll get this. I already have the previous Blu Ray set, so I don't think this is really worth it.

If they actually put the series out on 4K UHD with HDR then that would be worth upgrading imo.

reply

There's no sound apparently, which is why it can't be cut into the film.

There's a whole story of how the tape had to be 'baked' for 12 hours to separate the magnetic tape before they could watch it. It alludes to nearly all of the murders being longer.

While prepping to shoot an interview with Bill Randolph for Part 2, I decided to re-watch the CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES documentary in order to avoid repeating stories that have already been discussed in depth for years. As expected, there was talk about the footage that was shot, but not included in the final cut due to ratings board. Greg Nicotero mentions that FX artist Carl Fullerton showed him the footage in question. I wondered if anyone had reached out to Fullerton to see if he may still have the scenes that the fans have been dying to see for years. Bill Randolph (who wanted to see his scene as much as anyone else did) and I reached out to Fullerton to see if he still had it. We left a few voicemails and hoped for the best. With less than two weeks before our deadline, I received a call from Carl saying he had a VHS tape with all the material that was trimmed. However, he couldn’t remember exactly what was on it, but was kind enough to loan it to us for inclusion on the set. Because I was terrified that if it was shipped via postal mail, it might get lost in transit, so I made arrangements to get the tape in person through my co-producer and pal, Peter Bracke. I joked with Peter that I should have gotten him a suitcase with handcuffs and a bodyguard as this most likely was the only copy in existence. Peter met up with Carl, who handed him the old cassette with a typewritten daate of April 24, 1981 -- about a month before the film opened in theaters! What could be on the tape?
