The one REALLY bad scene

When the recreate Rocky running thru the Italian market and then all the kids start running with him. The next thing you know it turns into every single kid in Philadelphia is running down the street.

It just ruins the scene in the first movie by recreating it in the second and going with all 'Disney' with it.

And people say the motorcycles scene in Creed is cheezy. This scene is FAR cheezier!

reply

Awww, come on, guys. It's a tad cheesy, but what's wrong with that? I love when Rocky pulls away from that last kid, who looks like he's about to collapse.

If this were made today the kids would all be either too fat or too busy staring at their iPhones to even join in.

Good point! LOL. I don't think there's anything wrong with cheesy. Hell, all of the Rocky movies have cheesy moments. And I really loved that scene when I was a kid and saw the movie at the theater. Still... I don't think it's aged quite as well as the original workout climax.

I won't argue with you there .

This definitely felt like a case of:

"How can we repeat the original montage without it being exactly the same?"

"I dunno. Kids like Rocky. Hows about we throw in some kids?"

"Yes!".

So true 

He was my C.O. in Nam. CIA listed him as MIA but the V.A. ID'd his M.O. and put out an APB.

Loved the scene as a kid. Think its a bit over the top now, but do love when he pulls away from the last kid. Plus,Rocky is a great role model, and the scene is kind of a cool metaphor for that.

I think it's a fun scene. Reminds me of something out of late '70s Sesame Street though.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

I like the scene, but it's one of those scenes where you stop feeling like you're watching a story and you know you're watching a movie. Takes you out of it, as they say. It's the film becoming self aware of its own success. Very odd.

reply

Wow, never really gave a thought to this but... this sounds quite accurate.

reply

I thought that was awesome, that's one of my favorite scenes.

reply

You are talking pish, this is one of the most iconic scenes of all time, people have traveled around the world to run up the Rockey steps.

reply

I'm with you Poopsey...The scene is Great. They took everything about the original Rocky scene and made it BETTER. No one gave a shit about Rocky In the first scene..Aint nobody wanted to cheer him on and toss him fruit to eat let alone run with him. He then Fights with the Heavy Weight Champion of the world and goes the distance..Suddenly he's the local Hero. Can't believe people are making a fuss about too many kids...Don't cha remember being a kid? Having hero's you looked up to? Good Grief.
