Does anyone buy Kris Krisofferson as a football player?

????

From IMDB: Both Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson were outstanding footballers while attending college. Reynolds almost turned pro. Kristofferson was also a Golden Gloves boxer, but quit football after he started losing his short-term memory.

He was also a Rhodes scholar and a captain in the army. Looks can be deceiving.

Fair response. Let me ask the question another way - In this film does KK seem like an NFL player? Too me he seems too old (for late 70's) because he was over 40. Plus he seems out of shape.

I agree with you there. I think it's the beard.

And the ridiculously skinny arms hanging from his oversized shoulder pads

👍 Great post, learned something today.

When I rewatched this movie about a year ago I did some research on Jil Calburgh, who I thought was a odd choice for the role. (A fine actress, but pretty average looks wise)

Either somebody pulled some strings for her or the buget was busted on hiring Burt and Kris.

Clayburgh was the next big thing at the time. I am not sure that panned out.

Gable and Lombard was to be her breakout. I am not sure Semi-Tough was a star maker for her..

Silver Streak was a hit, but because of Pryor and Wilder.

Thanks, I was too young when this film came out to know that.

Since that post seven months ago randomly came across Staring Over (79) and my opinion on Clayburgh did a180°. She had excellent chemistry with Burt, with superb acting in
a nice romantic drama/comedy.

The hotel singing scene with Candice Bergen was hilarious.

After I posted I started watching Hustling, the TV movie that jumpstarted Jill to film and for which she won an Emmy. She was quite good.

I also watched the beginning of Semi-Tough. I still maintain Kris was too old and out of shape for role.

Maybe a Ken Stabler type of QB.
