VERY well made slasher flick.

Compared to most slasher flicks, this movie was very well done. The house, the atmosphere, the camera movements/cinematography, the calls. ESPECIALLY those freaky as fuck phone calls. Yeah, they were obviously impossible for one human being to sound like that, talking in multiple voices. But I have no problem suspending disbelief for that. Loved the telephone company scenes too. Very different. Most people site Halloween (which was heavily influenced by BC) as the best slasher flick. But I think this is definitely better than Halloween and would prefer to watch this over Halloween any day.

This receives little attention compared to movies like Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare On Elm Street etc.

And though I like those movies, Black Christmas is also amongst the best.

reply

Yeah it's actually impressive how seriously it takes itself compared with shit like Friday the 13th or Prom Night.

reply

Saw the original Prom Night a couple of years back. Wasn't keen somehow.

reply

I saw it a month ago. It's garbage.

reply

I think it gets somewhat overrated because Jamie Lee Curtis is in it. That's not to say Jamie Lee isn't a wonderful actress or that her performance sucked, but just that this particular movie was a bit of a dud. If somebody less well known had been it, would it have been remembered as fondly?

reply

Awww I like 'Prom Night'. It's slow to get going and a little restrained but the revenge element is nice and that chase scene is epic. It's relatively well made though, with some cute touches throughout.

reply

Each to their own, and all that.

reply

It's hardly surprising since those movies were made to cash in on Halloween's success and for little other reason.

reply

Agreed, it is a classic.
