Some in which the next generation had overtaken the previous one; meaning the aunt or uncle was younger than or similar in age to the niece or nephew. There were siblings twenty years apart. There were kids being raised by aunts and uncles and grandparents so they had sibling type relationships with cousins, etc. There were multiple mixed marriages of cultures, races, religions, age groups, etc.
As a result, nothing ever seems that odd to me when I see it in a movie. Today with so many divorces and remarriages families are more convoluted than ever yet people seem more confused. Why is that?
