Best Color Episodes

Okay, I just did a thread for bad black & white eps, now I thought I would do a thread for best color episodes. Again, here's mine :)

SEASON 6
Aunt Bee, the Swinger
Warning from Warren
Off to Hollywood
Taylors in Hollywood
The Hollywood Party
Aunt Bee Learns to Drive
Look Paw, I'm Dancing
Eat Your Heart Out

SEASON 7
Opie's Girlfriend
The Ball Game
The Darling Fortune
Dinner at Eight
Andy's Old Girlfriend

SEASON 8
A Trip to Mexico
Andy's Trip to Raleigh
Suppose Andy Gets Sick
Helen's Past
The Wedding

I found all of those quite enjoyable. :) Everyone else?

reply

Some of the color episodes are quite enjoyable. My favorites by season are - 6 Warning from Warren, 7 Dinner at Eight, 8 The Wedding. Overall, 'Dinner at Eight' is my all time favorite of the color episodes.

reply

Yeah, Dinner at Eight's my favorite color episode, too :)

reply

The one where Goober dates the girl from the computer dating service

I avoid "Warren" episodes like I avoid hard labor. That was a huge mistake they made bringing Jack Burns in. Glad they dumped him mid-season. That having been said, I like "The Mayberry Chef" and "The Ball Game". The latter is a Top Ten in my book, black and white or color.

reply

Unlike most of you, I actually like Warren. He just had massive shoes to fill and his first impression, literally and figuratively, wasn’t the best. People should have given Warren the benefit of the doubt.

reply

Warren was the worst character on the show.

reply

He wasn't Barney, but I don't know if I would call him the worst character. Not a favorite of mine, either, but I didn't dislike him. For me, the worst character was Clara Edwards.

reply

Never was too fond of Clara either. She wasn't bad, but she could be awfully catty towards Aunt Bea even though they were good friends.

Warren didn't stand a chance. It was about impossible to replace Don Knotts. They tried to make him a bumbler like Barney. But it just didn't work.

On Cheers it worked when they had to replace Coach who was vague and confused all the time. They brought in a much younger vague and confused character. I wonder if it would've worked if TAGS brought in a very young deputy, someone who had just graduated from the police academy. Or if they brought in an old guy who was close to retirement age and getting kinda senile.

reply

The one I like is when Goober becomes a know it all and grows a beard.

Another one is when? goes to Mexico and lives a good life. But his stay turns into a nightmare.

reply

That was Howard Sprague.
