The Twilight Zone marathon Meals/Snacks

Every year we always have a thread sharing what we have on our menus. Any tasty meals/snacks/dinners plans? I’m going to get some Hawaiian BBQ later. I hope everyone here enjoy their meals; eat hearty! We wouldn’t want anyone to lose any weight...

So far pretty tame, donut for breakfast, then random nibbling on holiday sweets around the house.

Since going out is taboo, likely doing nice takeout for tonight - Chinese or Tiki place. Chips/dip or popcorn for later at night.

reply

Shannongr, that sounds amazing. Same here with the Hawaiian BBQ that in picking up. The Tiki place sounds great. I had a bagel sandwich for breakfast and I’m getting ready for lunch and dinner. Prepping snacks as well. I still have three bottles of Martinelli’s cider and a bottle of Jameson Irish Whisky for later.

reply

Nice! I have to pace myself on the drinking or I'll fall asleep too early...

The Tiki Place (Max's South Seas Hideaway), on top of being kitschy fun, just filed for bankruptcy due to Covid, so I'm also hoping to keep it going until things can open up again.

Same here! Drinking for the adults later tonight. A friend said she’s going to come observe tonight and we’re going to hangout with drinks and TZ.

I’m so sorry to hear about that. It’s unfortunate that a lot places are shutting down, I just want everyone to be safe and healthy. I’ll definitely check out that place. The Ono’s Hawaiian BBQ is what I’m having. I love their meals. I had it last year and might make it a tradition.

reply

Sounds great! The website looked delicious.

I think takeout is definitely safe, I just hope it's enough to keep places afloat. To kill businesses is just another layer of tragedy to any already terrible time.

reply

It’s sooooo good! I hope you can try them out sometime!

I’ve been trying my best to help out businesses the best that I can. Since I’m no longer on campus as my job as a T.A., it’s hard to get takeout at times. I try my best to do what I can.

I hope everyone here is having a great time and have some wonderful meals in front of them.

I like to take my Christmas Gingerbread Men and eat them while pretending to be a Kanamit...

reply

strntz, that’s hilarious! Hahaha! I think I’ll have to do that as well! Eat hearty!

reply

Thanks. I like to make them run around while screaming: "it's - it's a cookbook!!". My wife thinks I'm insane.

reply

This is freaking hilarious!

reply

Hahaha! That’s hilarious! Whenever I think of peas and carrots I think of how Mr. Chambers chowing down on that in the spaceship at the end.

reply

My husband and I got a fruit platter, a cheese and nut platter and some chips and guacamole. For dessert, we got a Boston cream pie; can’t wait!! Looking forward to the marathon too. :)

reply

andreaahr that sounds amazing! I was thinking of doing that too. Have a fruit, veggies, and cheese platter. I do have shrimp in the freezer, but I just don’t want to deal with that. I hope you’re enjoying your meals! Keep us updated!

The Brie cheese and strawberries are a good and delicious combo added with the salty walnuts!! Yum!!!

reply

andreaahr that sounds wonderful! A great combo and I can taste it right now. My poor stomach, I’m so full right now and ready to fall into a sleep coma and then wake up to resume the marathon.

reply

I think I am going to fall into a food coma too. I’m super full....

reply

We mustn’t sleep or we’ll fall into Perchance to Dream!

reply

My wife and I watch it every year. No cable this year so we are watching the DVDS.

Anyway, our menu tonight is summer sausage, various cheeses with crackers and brandy old fashioneds.

reply

diezman, hey! Thank you for joining the party in anyway you can!

That sounds delicious! What kind of cheeses do you have? I have smoked cheddar cheese in the fridge.

reply

I mulled some wine, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is darn cold by Arizonan standards.

reply

tbone! It’s always a pleasure to have you pop in here! I forgot to pick up some wine, however, I still have that bottle of Jameson! I know what you mean, it’s a bit chilly here in Cali standards as well. I can’t complain though. I feel bad for our Eastcoast TZers out there. Stay warm, safe, and healthy everyone!

reply

Appreciate that! I envy you Westcoast TZers.

Happy New Year to you.

reply

TexasJack! Always a pleaser seeing you here! I hope you have a happy New Year and enjoy the marathon with some delicious food! Let’s get this party going!
