Probably my favourite Christmas movie.
It's mindless fun. The only negative (not against the movie) is that it's black and white and it can't showcase Christmas colours. Once the half hour mark hits, it feels like a genuine Christmas classic.

shareI like it, but my favourite Christmas movies are Its a Wonderful Life and the Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol. Both b&w... there’s nothing better than curling up with an old classic at that time of year.
shareCurling up during the winter to watch a Christmas classic is what I look forward to the rest of the year.

The premise is ridiculous, but she steals the movie.
shareIt is a silly story but I loved the energy in the film, the cast, the setting, and Barbara Stanwyck is outstanding. And it looked incredible in black and white. I wouldn't mind a colorized version, though.
shareYeah, the story is pretty dumb. What kind of boss would force someone to work on the holiday last minute like that, and why would a guy coming back from war allow her to be put in that position? And why would the boss decide to join too?
shareWell, that's the logic of the screwball comedy, just start with a premise & run with it, never worrying about it making too much sense. The main thing is to create an entertaining movie, a diversion from the outside world for a couple of hours. And to have fun!
shareWho wouldn't want to spend Xmas on a beautiful farm in the New England countryside, and ride in horse-drawn sleigh with a handsome war hero?? This movie has everything!!
