Now that Budweiser bought off Trump

It's okay for you MAGA to drink that awful Bud Light again.

reply

I don't drink at all. Unimpaired life is REAL life.

reply

Most men can have a few beers without being "impaired" in any way. Besides, Bud Light doesn't even really qualify as beer.

reply

Trump is really not as right wing as you people think he is. He let a transwoman compete in one of his pageants. And he's always been quite vocal about supporting gay rights.

Stop assuming that everything he does is for some right wing cause, it's stupid.

And yes, the previous poster is correct, Bud Light is not a good beer. I mean, if you even want to call it a "beer". I wouldn't drink it... give me a good microbrew instead.

Trump's even admitted he's not a conservative. He governed like a '90's Democrat, except for getting us energy independent. He kept us in Afghanistan after promising to get us out. Now he's promising to continue to fund the Ukraine War as "a loan." As someone said, that's like loaning money to a relative when you don't expect to get it back.

People who think he's a conservative either don't know what a conservative is, or they don't know what Trump's said and done.

Like FDR did with lend/lease

reply

I thought the same thing.

But I don't think Trump has ever advertised himself as a "conservative" though. He ran as a republican for cosmetic reasons only. If people were fooled by this, it's on them.

The thing is, Trump had people out voting that have never voted in an election before, they just liked him for various reasons. And the fact is, most people are not going to dive into a candidates past that much when voting. The only real way to learn about someone is to look at their voting history while serving in congress.

And Trump didn't have one. So, we didn't really know what he was going to do if he won. We have more of an idea of it today, should he win again, but yeah, Trump is not your typical "conservative" if you even want to call him that.

reply

Commentators called him a populist, but in one of the early debates, he tried to style himself as a conservative. The people who were advising him told him he'd have to be pro-life if he wanted to appeal to the conservatives. He thought about it and said, "I could be pro-life." As you said, "cosmetic reasons." He was pretending to be a conservative. Like makeup he was putting on. He courted the evangelicals, and some were depraved enough to endorse a serial adulterer. He did everything he could to play the part of a conservative.

This time around, he ran to the left of DeSantis, is pro-abortion, owns the clotshot and Covid response -- Biden merely doubled down on what Trump did -- and he's swearing he'll drain the swamp he embraced the last time, deport the illegals he promised to give a pathway to citizenship the last time, and swears he'll defeat the Deep State that rolled him the last time. And a lot of people are buying it, despite the fact he couldn't deliver the last time. He even gave them a great economy, then destroyed it himself with the lockdowns and multi-trillion dollar spending spree.

I'm an old fart. Any guy who dismissed the "Lock her up!" promise with, "It was nice to say on the campaign trail," wouldn't be given another chance. "Let me con you again!" But people want to believe someone who admitted he lied to them. Then again, my generation rejected Biden because he was a serial liar. These days people just don't care about trustworthiness.

Yes, Trump got people to vote who typically didn't vote before. Those are the low information voters who don't follow what's going on outside their own backyard. They think nobody is listening to them. Which becomes true if they don't vote.

If there are people who feel they are left out, that's a bad thing and it is good that someone pays attention to them.

But Trump doesn't really give a shit about them. He's paying them lip service just so he can win. His only objective is to serve himself. He doesn't serve others. He only values those who serve him. His words mean nothing.

reply

He is not conservative because he has no principles at all. He doesn't hate trans people - as long as it's Caitlyn Jenner supporting him. He was so roo happy to tell his supporters to boycott Bud Light when they were mad about a marketing tie with a trans woman. But that ended when a lobbyist for Anheiser-Busch arranged a fundraiser for him.

reply

The words Trump and principled just don't go together. He goes to the highest bidder.

reply

I hear ya, Info-Police.

Trump, as well as, other politicians will preach to the choir when necessary but I don't recall Trump ever coming out strongly against Bud Light from the beginning. You got a link to back that up?

I don't think he ever said anything about Mulvaney. Trump doesn't even drink alcohol, I doubt he really cares that much about it.

reply

this is why Trump is awesome, thanks for talking about Trump and not that other guy...

reply

"Trump is awesome because he can be bought! Unlike that other guy, DeSantis. He'll take the money and laugh when they think they bought something. DeSantis isn't like a swamp creature. Thanks so much for talking about that unprincipled guy, Trump! At least he doesn't wear cowboy boots!"

Sheesh, girl! It's not a positive. 🙄
