shareI 100% agree with her. I don't mind if there is some artistic reasoning for it, but just to swap genders is cheap. The characters deserve better, and so do women, or whomever is getting the swapped role.
shareMaybe there's a need for more fun movies about female secret agents, but no need to cast a female in the Bond franchise.
Seriously, don't worry about a woman becoming the next Bond, the producers of that show want to make a lot of money, and they know who their primary audience is. It's straight men, who want to see their fantasies acted out, and straight women, who want to see the man of their fantasies. They aren't going to mess with that.
She's right. Just give them a starring role in their own movie. Why do they write so many roles where the woman is the female equivalent to a man? Why do we never hear that some dude is the male equivalent of Ripley from Aliens?
