Run For Your Life has some creepy lyrics. John Lennon said it's the only song he really regrets writing, IIRC.

It hardly needs saying that the worst Beatles song is far better than, (insert any post 90s song.)

reply

pick one

reply

No. ;)

Oh, did you mean, "Pick the worst Beatles song?"

In that case, I'll have to get back to you. Nothing immediately come to mind.

reply

yes

reply

"Revolution 9".

Is a puzzlement.

To qualify that answer, I have to add that "Revolution 9" is the only bad Beatles' song.

reply

I was about to yell "WE HAVE A WINNAH!!!", but then I realized it's not a song at all.

I'll be polite and call it "sound art", rather than "noise".

reply

that is terrible.

Plenty of good music has come out in the last 20 years. People are just too lazy to listen for it.

reply

"People are just too lazy to listen for it."

That's something of a value judgement, isn't it? I could very well make one of my own;

"Nobody likes to hear the music of the past 20 years."

I'll go half-way, though. I have heard plenty of music released in the past 20 years, and I have not been pleased with any of it.

Don't ask me to name any of them, because I couldn't. I never bothered to find out. It's similar to being in a crowd and noticing a foul smell. You don't stay and look around to see who produced it, you just quickly leave the area.

reply

The thing is, you did make your own before I made mine. There was no "could" about it. I'm not sure if that's what you're hinting at what you say you'll "go half-way."

I think there's a point when people should just admit that they don't have enough of an interest to form a valid opinion. And that's Ok. If people are happy where they are it's all good. But to make a proclamation that something doesn't exist because we didn't look for it doesn't do justice to the topic at hand.

reply

The judgement that I made was about the music of a period. You, though, made a value judgement about the people who don't listen to it. I didn't want to reply with a similar personal evaluation, so I made a compromise and made a satiric remark about People.

But I still wanted to make my point about post-1990s music, so I compromised by writing "I have heard plenty of music released in the past 20 years, and I have not been pleased with any of it."

So you see my comment that there is no good music after 1990 which is as good as a bad Beatle's song is based upon not my denial of songs extant, or my ignorance of titles, but my hearing and immediate dismissal of them.

just terrible.

reply

Yeah. Revolution 9 is it.

I'm not that interested in avant garde music, but even if I was, I think Wild Honey Pie is better.

reply

I don't consider it a song. I just looked it up on Wikipedia and they refer to it as "sound collage."

reply

This one is undoubtedly their worst by far...I cringe every time I hear it.

Thats a good one. What are you talking about?

reply

Wild Honey Pie is pretty cringy. I used to know a 5 year old who wanted to hear it over and over because he thought it was hilarious!
