The day will feature customs dating back more than 1,000 years.

I'd rather not.

Countdown to big day! Just a few hours away!

A lot of pomp & circumstance. Not my cup of tea.

BBC will have the most knowledgable hosts. Other UK networks don't get the feed. Canada and Australia should be good.
American coverage will be dumbed down. Hosts might be chosen for their popularity instead of knowledge.

I've been sneaking looks at the Sky News live feed, at work.

They both look very old and frail, barely able to stand with all the gold and dead ermines draped over them.

reply

I just heard them say that King Charles III is the OLDEST crowned monarch (in history or not, they didn't say).

I remember thinking not 20 minutes ago that I'll give him 20 years at most, then it will be Prince William as King.

reply

I estimate 5-10 years. He just doesn't apoear to have his mother and grandmother's iron constitutions.

Anne sure looks like she does, though. She's almost the same age, and stands straight and looks energetic, while Charles looks deflated.

Well, decided to watch some of it this morning (I'm a night owl anyway) & watched on & off for about 90mins, from 2:30-4 PST. He did seem to be a bit aloof about all the pomp & circumstance ( especially through the presenting of all the royal vestments) but genuinely respectful of the process.

I watched from the link above, & I like that there wasn't any yammering hosts talking over the coverage.

He looked like he just wanted to get it over with and move onto other things. Either that, or he was thinking about a million other things while trying to focus. Camilla looked very nervous and kept adjusting her hair. Not sure what she was worried about.

I watched it. PBS was streaming it live on YouTube. It was very interesting to watch, and a lot of the things they did haven't changed one bit in the past 1,000 years. I kept wondering who the woman in the turquoise dress was, who was helping with the ceremonies.

Princess Catherine looked beautiful with her crystal headdress, and little Charlotte looked adorable with her crystal leaf headband and white cloak. (I think they might have been doing a "Mommy and Me" setup with their outfits, save for the cloaks). Louis looked cute and was making faces. George was very well-behaved while carrying his grandpa's cloak.

I was impressed that the gold carriage Charles and Camilla rode in was in such good condition after 200 years. Obviously someone had been maintaining that thing very well. The commentators joked that the RF were the driest people in the parade.

I watched it all day. It went on forever. The planes were cool.
