Won't finish his own book franchise but finds time to help HBO create "House of the Dragon"
I have no faith in this new prequel series.
shareI have no faith in this new prequel series.
shareThe fans blew it with all the insults and talk about him being a fat old man who might die at any minute. He'll never finish the books now and probably has a clause in his will that no other author can complete them. He's already rich and willing to forego the extra money in order to frustrate his "fans".
shareAs far as I could see, the angriest insults were aimed at Benoit and Weiss and not Martin for the horrible way the series ended. I don't recall reading nearly the vitriol at Martin as I did for the showrunners. If anything, it ended up making Martin look good since it was believed the show began to fall apart at the point the books end and Benoit and Weiss had to come up with their own material.
shareI suspect that GRR Martin has written himself into a corner that he cannot get out of. A Song of Ice & Fire might just be too big and sprawling to tie up all the plot threads satisfactorily.
shareYes no doubt it's the dreaded "Meereenese Knot" all over again...
He already killed off all the good characters. I'm sure that makes a good ending pretty hard to come up with. He should just have a meteor blow up the planet.
shareI think for sure he's leaving the work to be published posthumously. He's probably got a dozen different versions of the story and some poor bastard will be stuck with cherry picking the best elements.
