Do any of you have a HW produced movie?

If so, did you get rid of or keep it?

Would you let that effect your choice to watch or reject any of his produced movies ever again?

reply

Yes I have plenty of movies in my collection with his name in the credits. I'm pretty sure all of the movies he produced are owned by other studios now so I don't think he's further profiting off of them.

reply

Some of mine are from the brothers. There’s no way I’m getting rid of Jackie Brown or Pulp Fiction.

Harvey was nicknamed Edward Scissorhands because he edited and redid a lot of movies much to the dissatisfaction of the writer and director. There was one French director who said he butchered his movie. There are a lot of OTHER people attached to his films who are excellent and would feel the hurt more than he ever would.

reply

Feel the hurt as in boycotting his movies?
I am not aware of royalties paid to cast and crew though I think sometimes a cast member chooses to accept a portion of box office receipts instead.
I dunno about streaming or disc sales.

In any case, I doubt it would hurt to boycott.
And not like I would do it on purpose.
Just that the majority of his movies I do not care to own because they don't interest me enough to.

reply

I am not talking about money. I am talking about being part of a great movie that is now slated as a film not to be watched. Kind of like making a list of books to be burned. Essentially Tarantino films blacklisted?

Great. Another person on this website who makes comments without watching films. Have you really not seen Pulp Fiction? I swear this is the consummate website for people to discuss things they know nothing about.

reply

Yeah, like I am sure they would feel that pain if I threw out all my Weinstein movies if I had them!
LOL

Odd at how you are talking about taking their feelings into consideration but have zero empathy for any of his rape victims.

reply

I don’t think you can say that I have zero empathy for rape victims. Especially based upon someone owning Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown. You started this post, why are you arguing when someone replies.

What movies do you have in your collection? Do you have War and Peace (1965)? Have you even read Tolstoy?

reply

I'm sure I have several films that he produced. His involvement doesn't affect me watching, keeping or buying a movie.

reply

That seems to be the consensus.

reply

Of course, every movie fan worth a damn will enevitably have some films he produced amongst their collection. Here's all the ones I own. You're off your rocker if you think I'd get rid of all these.

Come on. The Lord of the Rings, several Tarantino films, Scream. What movie fan doesn't have at least some of these in their collection?

reply

Me.

I REALLY have to like the movie to get it and I only get like 2-4 movies a year.

reply

I'm not sure you can even call yourself a movie fan if you don't have The Lord of the Rings and Pulp Fiction in your collection.

Sorry brother, your movie fan pass has been rescinded.

reply

I have ripped it up and burned it.

*Single tear runs down cheek*

Cut!
That was great!
Print it!

reply

"I'm not sure you can even call yourself a movie fan if you don't have The Lord of the Rings and Pulp Fiction in your collection."

That's the most idiotic statement we're likely to read all day.

reply

I do but he already got the profit from them. He doesn’t get any money if I rewatch movies that are already in my possession. Beyond that, other people wrote, directed and starred in the films so I don’t have to think about it too much when I watch them.

reply

His name are on the Lord of the Rings movie as he was the initial producer before they were made with New Line. There's no way those movies would not be in my movie collection.

reply

After looking through his list I see that I only have one of his: Superhero Movie.
So glad it isn't more than one.
I hope I don't find out that he raped any of the female actresses in it.
If I did, then I would get rid of it.

I seriously doubt I will buy any of his movies.
They don't appeal to me and I just don't want movies of a rapist in my collection.

reply

Of all the many movies he's made (including some absolute classics like Pulp Fiction and Scream), the ONLY one you own is Superhero Movie?

Isn't that quite a sexist film too?

No offence, but your standards seem rather weird.

reply

Don't get me wrong. The man is a monster. But one of the greatest TV series I have ever watched is the 2016 readaptation of War and Peace of which he was an executive producer, not long before his offending was reported. I am not the least bit deterred from watching it; in the preface to The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde wrote, "There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all." The same applies to any form of the arts.
