I heard that she was considered for the role. She certainly had the body for it.

Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, and Angelina Jolie were considered for the role of Natasha Romanov a.k.a. Black Widow. Alba played Susan Storm in the first Fantastic Four film franchise, Portman played Jane Foster in Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) while Jolie would play Thena in Eternals (2021).
in hindsight its surprising she didnt get cast: 5ft 7 (SJ is 5ft 3), had previous Marvel experiance (like RyanR and CEvans) and overall just has more of a comic book heroine look. maybe she'd already agreed to do The A Team? which out same summer as Iron Man 2 share
She wouldn't had been bad.
