What's with the middle name?

I really don't like her middle name. I prefer to think of her as Marcia Harden. Yes, Gay can also mean happy. But unfortunately, that's not the common meaning. What's she using it for anyways? Nobody casually refers to somebody using their middle name. Does anyone else dislike her middle name? I wonder if even she likes it or not.

Sexist! I don't see you complaining about Dick Van Dyke.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this -- some families call their children by first and middle name. Billy Ray, Carrie Anne, Peggy Sue. This is fairly common in the south and her parents were Texas natives so perhaps that is the case with her.

It could be a SAG requirement because there may have already been a Marcia Harden in the membership books, so she added her middle-name to differentiate.

SAG isn't as proficient with this requirement though as more recently the actresses named Peyton List are currently using the same name in their respective movie credits. What happens if they star in the same project? Who knows?

reply

True. I thought about that, too!

That's happened. They're both in the voice cast for the 2019 DC animated movie Batman: Hush. Peyton List (born 1986) voices Poison Ivy, Peyton R. List (born 1998) voices Batgirl.

Gay or Gaye used to be a somewhat common female name.
