shareI can't be bothered to read the article. WHAT wizard movie?
It doesn't say. It just says that Disney wanted him to do a wizard movie.

shareSo Scott is getting picky in his old age? Merlin is not the first thing that pops into my mind when I heard the term "wizard".
shareI'm glad he didn't do it. That sounded like a kids movie.
shareThe Merlin character is very interesting in some Arthurian based stories, I'm thinking particularly of Mary Stewart's novels. Whether Disney would allow such a version is debatable.
shareI'm sure he is. I'm not too familiar with the stories, but I liked Merlin in Excalibur. But the adventures and training of young Merlin doesn't sound interesting to me.
shareWell, Legend was an abysmal failure. Fantasy is just not his genre.
shareWell, we'll never fully know, since the full length cut of Legend seems to be lost forever. Artistically it was anything but a failure. And I'm talking about the international or director's cut, not the shitty north american theatrical cut with Tangerine Dream's music. Ridley is a great director, but he is his own worst enemy when it comes to cutting down his own movies. Legend is the saddest example, but there are more. Producers even insisted him putting back some of the fantastic footage he shot for Black Rain and make the cut LONGER, he told on the commentary track of Black Rain.
