Best Jack Movies?

I've only watched Some Like It Hot and i thought he was brilliant.
What other movies would Jack fans recommend?

reply

Some recommendations:

Comedies:
Avanti!
The Fortune Cookie (Walter Matthau is especially hilarious as a crooked lawyer)
Grumpy Old Men
The Odd Couple
The Out of Towners

Dramas:
Glengarry Glen Ross
Missing
Save The Tiger
The China Syndrome
The Apartment
The Days of Wine and Roses (his finest dramatic performance)

He did a very funny movie back in the day titled "The War Between Men and Women" with Barbara Harris. Very funny, as I remember.....unfortunately, it has never come out on VHS, DVD, or Blu-ray, and it hasn't been televised (that I know of) since the early '80's, which is unfortunate.

I know the posts are 8 years old, but in saying that "The War Between Men and Women" is available at Amazon.

I've never seen that one, but I don't think I've ever seen anything with Jack Lemmon in it that I disliked. Thanks for posting the info!

Agree with many on the lists, but how can no one include How to Murder Your Wife? A first rate ensemble cast with Virna Lisi(!), Terry Thomas and Eddie Bracken.!the courtroom scene is priceless!

Our #1 fave Jack Lemmon movie of all time is "Good Neighbor Sam"! It's a RIOT and we've watched it a hundred times!

That's my favorite as well. I can't count the number of times I've watched it, yet it never gets old. The Frank Devol soundtrack is fantastic, Edward G. Robinson is terrific as always, and the plot twists are clever; not to mention the number of quotable lines the film has. It's certainly not his best performance as an actor, but it's his funniest, and overall best, film, in my opinion.

Watch The apartment.

The Apartment, in my estimation, is a lot more affecting than it appears at first. A fantastic film.
