Anyone heard anything about an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie or movies?

Anyone heard any rumors or announcements or anything?

I wouldn't be surprised if not, if I ran Disney I'd wait and see how "Solo" performs before giving "Obi-Wan" a budget.

Apparently there are 6 movies out already with Ewan starring in 3 of them as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

You might be able to find them on ebay or an antiques dealer Otter.

Best of luck!

The last I heard is that the Obi Wan movie has been put on hold. I think it would be a huge blockbuster. Nobody wanted to see a cheap imitation of Han Solo.

reply

Yep. Officially on hold. They're not writing a script or anything. But given how gracefully Ewan is aging, I'd say they still have another 20 years to make it, so no big deal.

reply

Of course it's on hold. Disney just aren't interested in movies about some white guy, unless they can emasculate him and pump it full of strong heroines. If they could they'd make an Indiana Jones movie and put the focus on his ex-wife.

Oh Disney, why.

reply

You know, that's a damn good point. This SJW storm will blow over. The longer they wait to make the movie, the better.

Full steam ahead on an Ahsoka film, a character who's never been more in sync with current trends.

reply

if they make a Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, I already know what the movie is going to be about: Obi-Wan doing nothing beside staking Luke for 19 years. LOL!!

reply

Nah, I'm sure "Ben Kenobi" did more than stalk Luke. The Resistance knew who he was and what planet he lived on so he had to be involved with them, he probably did a bit if fighting for justice and against slavery on Tattooine, defend his home from Sandpeople, fight any bounty hunters who came looking for the second-to-last-Jedi, and scare off anyone who showed any interest in Darth Vader's relatives. Because really, keeping the name "Skywalker" on the public record was not a really bright idea. Same for "Kenobi".

I'm sure they could cobble a script together out of that sort of thing, if they can't think up some better adventure that would take him off-planet and back in time for Luke's grade school graduation. I'd see it, I'm always happy to see Ewan MacGregor.

reply

that sounds like a cool idea.

also if they make a Obi-Wan Kenobi movie: I have to see 2 things happen.

1: Obi-Wan Kenobi visiting Shmi skywalker's gave.

2: Liam Nessson playing Qui-Gon Jinn as a force ghost.

reply

I want to see Obi-Wan visiting Shmi's grave and kicking himself for leaving her a slave on Tattooine! Because that's actually one of my pet peeves about the prequels, the Jedi find this woman who gives miraculous/parthenogenic birth to a Force prodigy... and they take the kid and just leave her in slavery! Why didn't Obi-Wan or Padme come back for her, rescue her and have a look at HER Force capabilities? Think of the trouble they could have saved, if they'd shown a little common decency!

But yeah. While I don't think Obi-Wan led a completely dull life on Tattooine, they'd really have to reach to find enough drama for a film trilogy. Still, Ewan McGregor!

reply

I want to see Obi-Wan visiting Shmi's grave and apologize for letting her son go to the dark side.

reply

He may not have gone to the Dark Side, if the Jedi had show Shmi some common decency, or even investigated an unusual Force phenomenon!

But that's far from guaranteed, Palpatine probably would have found a way to break the young idiot's heart and turn him anyway.
